FAA allows knives for checked baggage

Do be careful though, because the FAA says that it is up to each individual Airline company to make their own rules. So if the airline says no that means you can not take knives with you in any way.

Bill Burke contacted United and was told that if the knives are in a locked case and they are informed that the knives are there, then they will be allowed in with checked baggage. Be prepared to have the caase inspected.

I do not know what regulations the other Airlines have.
