FAA allows knives for checked baggage

Thanks for posting that link. There seems to be alot of confusion on this and that helps settle things.

Nice of FAA to throw us a crumb--we're still naked before the wolves with their plan!:barf:

I think if many had thier way we would have to be naked just to get on the plane :)

You guys carry a pen ever? Pointy end works pretty much the same. Think like the guerilla (hit the gym and think like the gorilla?)

If you can be armed in prison you can be armed anywhere.

FAA may allow but airport guys don't know the regs!

I just got back from Nicaragua and saw a guy get a Spydie Endura get taken from a CHECKED bag! One member of our team got his Leatherman Wave and Nail clippers taken from a CHECKED bag. (He got them back later from the airline but had to put them back into LOCKED luggage under the supervision of an US Marshall.) Two other guys had nail clippers confiscated at check points from carry-ons. They were also confiscating shaving razors and even soft drinks and in Miami we were stopped and asked to have our hamburgers Xrayed after stopping at Burger King!

Don't get me wrong, I am not blasting them! Just not used to it!

Did you see Joe Pesce in the movie Casino? Stabbed a guy about 20 times in the jugular with a pen...

Pens are good stabbing implements. Shoelaces make acceptable garrottes. I think I could swing the power adapter on my laptop by the cord like a ball and chain. Provided we can still take computers on planes...

WTF you think I'm some kinda clown? Funny How, do I a-myoose you? I'm Here for your entertainment?

(followed by the sound of rapid writing with my trusty Parker steel-cased pen...)

This is in response to the people that had knives taken from checked bags. Since these rule changes are new, knife owners should travel with a downloaded copy of the FAQS from the FAA website. These clearly state that knives are allowed in checked baggage. That should make a difference or at least you have good grounds for a lawsuit.

Don Rearic has already posted in another thread that pens have been confiscated as well. Given that Shomer-Tec now sells "prison pens" that bend, I have to wonder how long until silverware and flatware for the home is outlawed, and we're all issued "sporks," for our own good, of course!
