facebook connect - any way to remove it?

Hey everyone... the new site design that uses the facebook logo really takes away from my Bladeforums experience. Is there a way to toggle it off? It is larger than all other bladeforums options and, quite frankly, I don't want to be reminded of facebook when i'm browsing this site. It is sort of subliminally interrupting my enjoyment here. Let me know if this can be made optional. Thank you.

I'd never even really noticed it before. What are using to view the site? In Firefox, with the Adblock Plus addon, you can right click the button and then click "Adblock Plus: Block image" and it'll go poof. I assume similar options are available for other browsers.

No, that's what it looks like. It showed up very recently. I am going to try adblock as Kiah and Vance reported above.

But I would like to be able to disable this without third party software. This is bladeforums after all, not Facebook.

it does seem a nuisance, being blue it keeps me looking twice to make sure it's not a new notification, probably can't relocate it to the other side of the banner to keep it away from the usual stuff?

More people like Facebook than not, so I'd venture to guess you are possibly in the minority on this request. For those that don't use Facebook or care about it, they don't even really notice it, I say this based on the lack of threads or messages complaining about it. I just ignore it, works for me and does nothing to reduce or increase my experience on the site.

I noticed it and hate the new change. Facebook can f off, especially on blade forums.. i was going to open a thread complaining but saw this one. Definitely needs a toggle off feature. Or removed all together...

Also if facebook is added, how long until the rest of them are...just give us the option to toggle it off
 
i just turned off my computer & re-booted it...it was back

i right clicked on it an blocked again..just a FYI PT....it may be a reoccurring thing
 
99% of my time on here is on my phone. Whenever I come on now I keep mistaking the facebook thingy for a new message notification. I get excited then am sad. Other than that it doesn't bother me.
 
I don't mind it being there as a default. I think it is useful for people who want to contribute here using those credentials. I was just wondering if there is a way to toggle it off internal to this software.
 
I doubt hiding that button is a configurable option in the software. Even if so, I doubt fiddling with it is a priority as we'll all be on the new software soon enough and that particular button isn't there (at least ATM). There are other FB and Twitter things at the bottom of threads and the login screen though.

I agree with this statement, also what G2 said about notifications is true for me as well.

Facebook go away please. I've never had account, and never will.
 
Just noticed the Facebook button today myself for the first time. I don't use Facebook and have no plans to start. I did use the Adblock trick to make it go away, so thanks for that idea.

On a smartphone I believe the only solution is to download a browser that automatically blocks the ad content.

Adblock did work for Chrome on Windows 10 (thanks ladies and gents).

Re: new forum software. That is news to me. Looking forward to it.
