How bad are the "slight blemishes" on the factory seconds (closeouts)? Specifically, I'm thinking about picking up a BK-7 or a BK-9. Leaning toward the BK-7.

What I found with my BK7? There are other knife companies that would have sold it as first quality.

Slight cosmetic blemish is just that, nothing more.

I bought a BK10 for myself as Christmas present, and couldn't be more pleased. Buy one! geegee

Ed: um... you mean overstatement, right?
"Slight blemish is an overstatement"?

I bought one of the BK5 and other than the fact that theres no tang stamp it's 100%, I'm getting one of the BK9 blems and really I dont care cause I intend on takeing the thing out and useing the hell out of it. The Becker series arnt show pieces so whats a little scuff here or a spot with a blob of coating. As long as it's sharp and holds an edge looks arnt that important as far as I"m concerned.

Does anyone know how long it typically takes to get an order from the closeouts/seconds?

I ordered a BK9 on the 4th (and received a confirming email), and have neither received it nor has my credit card been charged. I live close enough to NY that UPS ground should only be one day. I have a BK7, and a necker, but you guys have me all drooling again.

Thanks,
Al F.

I think the BK9's are on backorder or something, I ordered one before christmas and still haven't got it.

As for the "blemishes", I honestly couldn't find one on the BK7 I ordered. The scales don't align with the tang perfectly, so maybe that is it? Then again, I am notorious at work for missing aesthetic QC issues.

Guys,
We were closed from Dec. 23 until Jan 5th for the holidays. Of course when we came back there were alot of things to catch up on that had happened in our absence, so we are a bit behind. These closeouts and seconds ARE smokin' deals, so have a bit of patience.

IF you have any questions about your order, either email customer service, or give them a call @ 800-344-0456.

Thanks for being customers!

Thanks Will, customer service actually told me that the BK9 would ship well after the holidays. So, I knew in advance and don't mind waiting at all. Should have mentioned that in my last post.

Dadgum, no more BK-9s listed at the closeout store. Guess I waited too long.

yeah i just ordered my BK7 guess they had some of them left, I'm sure i'll want a BK9 soon enough.

Well, I picked up a first quality BK-7 from Sheath Mechanic. I was already paying shipping on a separate custom sheath order from him, so it didn't make sense to pay $37 + $6 S/H to get a second from Camillus when I could pay $44 and get a first from Sheath Mechanic (no extra shipping charges since he already has to return the knife I'm sending in for a custom job).

I also decided to go ahead and get a custom kydex sheath for the BK-7. It should look something like this, although he's putting a Tek-Lok on mine as well as a couple of eyelets at the bottom of the sheath for paracord:

Well, I just got the BK-9 second I had ordered, and it's an awesome knife! I had to look hard for the reason it was a second, and eventually found it -- Someone had stamped a '2' in the handle! Other than that it was perfect, as near as I could tell.

Eventually I found that the Becker logo and what-not were not stamped in the blade, it was unmarked on both sides. I wonder if that's why it was a second?

Anyway, thanks to Camillus and Ethan Becker for another great toy.

Folk's, FWIW.....
No manufacture in his right mind will sell seconds
that have defects that are structural in nature.
To do so would invite a lawsuit when the product
fails injuring or killing the customer!!

That said....
I've bought a lot of products that were seconds or
blems saving a ton of money in the process. :D
Camillus is a first rate company and thier blems or
seconds are my favorites because they are such a
screaming value.:D :D
