Anyone know what the edge angle is for the Buck 172 Mayo TNT, I'm getting ready to sharpen one and want to keep the same angle as it came from the factory?

It was about 30 degrees total included angle, maybe a tad less. I believe they specified the same as most of their blades, 13-16 degrees per side.

I was thinking 17 or 20 degrees per side which would be 34 to 40 inclusive. I think I'll go with either of those two.

What I can't believe is that more people don't rave about this knife, I guess it is because a lot of people view it as a Gentlemens folder and not hard use but I use mine like a dog and the thing holds up just fine.

The trick is to paint the edge with a sharpie. Then see what angle it takes to remove the paint.

I LOVE THE TNT!!!!!!!!!!

Hows that :D

I think more guys would, but at regular price they are quite expensive for the regular guy (IMHO)

Dollar for dollar, me personally I would take 3 new Vantage pros over one TNT anyday :D BUT that is full price. With that said, I traded a gentleman from the forums here for one for about a week. It wasnt my cup o tea so I sent it back to him...
About 2 weeks ago though, there was one listed online cheap BIN, I couldnt pass it up, (about the cost of a new Vantage Pro) so I tried it again, I have been carrying it everyday, and I gotta say it is a sweet knife! I am SUPER happy I gave it a second chance!!
(thanks Scott for the first chance) ;)

I cant wait to sharpen it :D
