Hello all,

Just received my first order, very fast shipping, both knives feel great, love them !

When check the edge, both not sharp, the RMD cannot cut paper, I can moderately run it over my finger without being cut.

Similar thing on the Warden, half of the edge (from tip) is not sharp like that.

Is this normal?

Thanks

I do hear that the wide angles, although strong, are not a great cutting edge. I only have the Waki, and it was able to cut paper, but wide is the edge.

Should not be normal; all the Rats I've received have been able to slice paper at the least. Some have come sharper than others, but all could do the paper. You should contact Eric and he will make them right. Sorry to hear the bad news on your first order.

It will be a little unfair to say cannot cut paper, but it has to be thick paper, thicker than printer paper; and the edge near tang cuts better.
If I look closer , it seems the edge may need a little bit more grinding to make left and right side to meet.
I am in Canada, it is trouble to ship it back/forward, I might just sharpen it myself.
But glad to hear Trill's experience, mine should be just a rare case.

Sorry to hear that Alan, most of the rats I have are second hand but for the most part came with sharp factory edges. I think only recently have there been any issues with edges coming from the factory. I recently picked up a Rodent Solution and RMD (like 3 weeks ago) and the Rodent Solution edge was so-so at best. The RMD was about the typical razor edge though :)

Since you're using them already, I'd just reprofile them. Put the exact edge you want on it.

received my RS last week, it was sent really dull. Hard to believe coming from Swamp Rat but hey, it happens.

ive had a couple come pretty dull.i sent them back and they took care of it,,great service.

I guess I've been lucky, all mine were pretty darn sharp. They have great customer service and would definatly sharpen them if you sent them back
