Factory Edge with a Microbevel?

Whats your opinion on this? Personally I'd prefer that a factory edge does not have a microbevel. Not that I don't like them, but I'd rather have a clean slate to do my own geometry on the edge. More than a few times I've bought knives on eBay or here on the forums that were advertised as "factory edge" or "never sharpened" and they clearly have microbevels... hmmm. I've never seen a Spyderco or Benchmade have a MB on a new factory edge. Most of the time its the cheaper Chinese made knives that have them. Some Kershaws I've bought had MBs when they were brand new, but all the USA made ones had a nice clean sharp primary bevel. Seems like faster, cheaper, "less skill required" way for the factory workers to put the final edge on their products. I just bought a Emerson Micro commander on eBay and it was advertised as "NIB never sharpened or used" but it certainly looks like it was swiped on a sharpmaker a few times. There is a MB on both sides of the edge, and Emerson does the chisel bevel thing. So I expected to see a nice flat face on one side of the edge. It's not a huge deal, but to me the little things matter.

I honestly don't care too much because I sharpen my own knives anyways.

all of my japanese knives come dull with microbevel, but I've been told they do that because chefs are suppose to sharpen themselves, just not sure why american knives have microbevels, maybe to keep factory dull edge sharper longer?
