Factory Error? Any Value?

I have a Case Mini copperhead that the factory put the Case logo on upside down. Now when the US mint does such things it creates greater value for that item. Does anyone thing the same about this knife?
Would you send it back and have them fix it?

I don't know about value, I imagine it might. I'd certainly keep it for its uniqueness.

I'm not sure either. I might pay an extra buck or two for that one vs one that was right if given the option. I'd keep it I think.

Well,
I have poor Case knowledge. In the Buck world they put one shield on crooked but they did it on the entire production. So all that is, is a year identifier. The old Buck slipjoint shields were glued on. They pop off once in a great while. I consider an upside down shield as a ------ personal problem.----------Someone could have had a shield pop off and they glued it back wrong. I have seen Buck knives with odd shields replaced from other knives Camillus contract made at the same time they were making the Buck slipjoints. They were made with the same size and shape shield. I have even seen one glued in backside up. I might keep one if I were to find it cheap, as a novelty, but in my mind they don't increase Buck SJs value. If they were riveted on maybe so....

But it just my opinion and like rear-ends we all got one.

If you're talking about the scale shield, I don't think it would add much value, if any at all - unless it was a pinned shield, and could be proven to be a factory error. (I have an old error coin collection of my dads; I find errors like that intriguing.) I see Case knives every once in a while with missing shields, and I assume it would be an easy job to glue a replacement shield back into that spot, upside down. Most are glued in, but several of my old Case knives have pinned shields. If a pinned shield was mounted upside down at the factory, I couldn't say whether they would have any value.

Several years ago, the shield popped off my little freebie NRA lockback. My wife had the idea of engraving my initials onto the back (blank side) of the shield, and gluing it back into the scale. My little knife (actually one of my favorites) would then be personalized. So, just an idea for you if that shield on yours ever drops out.

Tang mark, yea, shield, not really. They pop out all the time.Your seller is probably the one that put it in upside down. Now a tang mark upside down would be quite a rarity.

If this is the tang mark being upside down, I'd think that's quite unusual (rare). I'd love to see a pic of that, if so.

As others have said, an upside down shield on a recent Case knife wouldn't be a big deal. I had a shield drop in my lap once, when I was inspecting a brand new 5344SS Stockman (red shield series). They're just glued in (this one just barely, apparently), so an upside down shield is probably an indicator of previous owner attempting to 'fix' it.

I also have a TB6339SS Sowbelly, with the 'Barb Wire' jigging on the bone scales, that has a slightly 'crooked' round shield, I assume for the same reason.

The following knife was an SFO, with the majority of them having the full blade etch that so many of these offerings do have. This was from the original small run, which they forgot to do the blade etch on. Not only does it look better without, but may have some additional value down the road, as fewer than 100 (if memory serves me) were released like this without the etch.
