Have no idea of the sharpening. I doubt a totally unsharpened edge will cause the knife to be collector worthy. It happens with stamps... It happens with firearms. With firearms, dealers have tried to get a significant premium for the mis-marked firearm, but in most cases, that is a very specialize collector area and the increased value is minimal.
Sharp slip joints has always been a problem with the US knife makers. I don't see it as a problem in the Chinese or Japanese stuff. It is just poor QA/QC practices by US knife manufactures. Queen had quite a reputation for shipping knives with butter knife sharpened edges. That has changed with the change in ownership, but I feel sure it still happens. Even some of the GEC knives come poorly sharpend and they are usually a step up from Case.
I would send it to Case and have them sharpen it or replace it. Then if you want to keep it pristine for potential collector reasons, do so.
