Factory etch or aftermarket?

I already posted a picture of this in another thread, but I started wondering about it later. I looked in the old newsletters to see if I could find it as a special projects, but I couldn't.

Do you think the blade etch is from the factory or done after market? The label on the box has been applied over another label, but it appears to be a Buck label.

Could it have been done as something like a "right of passage" knife-I dont see that option in the 2002 catalog though.

humm ... some how i feel it is factory from buck or done for buck ..
would not bet a 110 on it
but i think it come from buck that way for some reason
