Factory Microbevels

Ive made similar enquiries elsewhere, so please bear with me. Just figured id expand my chances of an answer.

My new Manix has a very coarse ground edge, but very smooth at the apex. Also doesnt bite until a much more obtuse angle than the visible edge grind. Appears as if the coarse edge is finished with a very fine microbevel at the factory. Ive long observed this on quality knives from the factory, so im thinking i am correct.

Can anyone verify this? I am dying to know for some retarded reason.

Thanks.

From what I've seen, the primary bevel seems to a done with a 120 grit belt or thereabouts. The micro seems to be done with a 400 or 600 grit belt. That's just my observations from looking at factory bevels with a loupe so I wouldn't put too much stock on my observations.

I'm curious as well. Not sure about a micro bevel but its possible. I always thought they managed to completely remove the burr from that coarse grind because they have so much bite. I have a Military that splits and tree tops hair from the factory. When I drag my fingernail down the edge I can feel the micro serrations.
