Factory mirror-polish blade arrives from CRK!!!

The last couple months have been mostly about work for me. After the mortgage got paid, and the family fed, I had a few bucks left for some truly unnecessary CRK acquisitions. I picked up a new small Insingo from TNK and the blade came out of the box with a Mirror-polished blade! What is up with that? CRK doesn't get a lot of credit for it's factory grinds, but this one is truly great. It's not perfectly shiny like some can make it, but pretty darn close. Someone really took some care with this blade in Boise. The blade was born in September 2013, on my wife's birthday of all things, so maybe some good fortune was involved there.

Anyways......owners of this flavour of CRK need no convincing. I'm already in love with it's design. Some more will follow on this knife, but for now, I just wanted to share some shots of that super shiny edge. Crazy sharp!

Cody,

Nice to hear from you. Seems like it's been a while. I can relate to you being caught up with work. This is a really nice knife you've picked up. I like the selection that TNK offers, lots of silver hardware options, tanto blade, and also these micarta Sebenza's with blue hardware. Only other one I've personally seen like it is biggerjon's. That edge looks great! As of today, in just a few hours, I will have my 4th Sebenza. A small micarta with standard blade. I was really after an Insingo like yours! I'd like to hear more about it as you carry and use it for a while. The edges I've received have been hit or miss but when they're a hit...they're a HIT! Enjoy in good health, friend.

Also, not from CRK but, some more mirror edge!

P.S. Are those Tamiya plastic rods in your pics? Man, I have a TON of those around my house!

Nice knife/edge Kidcongo! I really have to try a Micarta Seb sometime.

Zeta33, what a beautiful blade! Where did you get that damascus pocket clip insert?

Nice...I haven't bought a new sebenza but i doubt the ones that were never sharpened before I got them looked that good.

Trying to PM you but it won't go through. Don't want to disrupt Cody's thread more than I have unintentionally, otherwise I'd respond here. Is your inbox full?

Sorry Cody!

No foul on the derailing the thread Harris. My threads are always open to whatever direction people want to take them, including right off the rails. That is a pack of Tamiya paint brushes. There are a few hobbies that happen in this house! I'll incorporate them into some future photos. What are the plastic rods you speak of?

And back to the knife......if I had not bought this knife from Neil at TNK, and if it were not completely spotless, I would accuse the vendor of selling a used knife sharpened by a previous owner. However, this is not the case. I think someone over at CRK just had something to prove to themselves, and maybe the boss, or maybe it was the boss! :D

Thanks Cody. I use the plastic rods for "scratch building". One of my several several hobbies is scale modeling, so I've been using Tamiya products for just about 12 years now. They make great stuff for the hobbyist. The brushes I use are not Tamiya so I didn't know what their packaging looks like, I assumed they were brass or plastic rods used for structural support in whatever it is you are building. We ought to chat about hobbies one of these days brother. If nothing else, we can free our old ladies from the burden of listening haha!

That's cool. My father-in-law is an avid model railroader who scratch-builds most of his structures, so I am aware of the plastic rods and brass wires which you describe. When I married my wife, I became a parent to a step-son, who has become a fantastic plastic modeller of space and military subjects (actually award-winning in his age group). The Tamiya brushes are his. Plastic modelling was a passion I had as a child, and it was something that built a bridge between us, in the challenging role you can have as a step-parent in a kid's life. Myself, I have not delved back into modelling, as I have had what seems like too much to do! However, I look forward to a quieter time returning someday when I can enjoy that hobby again. I am jealous every time the kid breaks out a new kit........there's a long winded derailment for you Harris.......

That's a great little knife Cody, a temptation I've been resisting for a long time, a small micarta Insingo.

Just might be my next one, and it will certainly be my next CRK. This thread is helping me make that decision, all my others are large CRKS of every iteration.

How does it carry all the way in the pocket without using the clip (although I'd leave it on)? I'd be carrying it wearing dress pants at work.

I am certainly becoming more devoted to the small size. If it's worth noting, I think they carry perfect in the pocket with the clip, so I would imagine they would carry even better without. Chris Reeve thought the proportions of the small size very carefully through. it is really perfect for the pocket. This is also my first CRK with blue studs and spacer. Really loving the colour, and realize it will wear, but I think that will be part of the charm. For now I'm just working up the courage to use this beauty for the first time.
