Factory re-sandblasting and collector value?

I have previously posted pics of an original numbered Small Sebenza that I am thinking of selling. The blade is outstanding, but the handles show snail trails. There were comments that the knife would be worth more without the snail trails. CRK will re-sandblast the knife for just the cost of postage. Before I do this, I want to make sure that doing so would not diminish the value of the knife to a collector. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

For future reference, your previous post is still on the first page of this subforum and any new post in it would bring it back to the top...you could have just continued the discussion there.

To your question about value, that would depend on your buyer. In my opinion, the value would only be higher if it had never had any snail trails...if it was in like new condition. Refinishing the handles via CRK spa is available to anyone at any time, so to me personally it would not increase the value, assuming you intend to be honest and disclose that it has been reblasted. I would not pay more because someone took advantage of a free service that I could also take advantage of.

Since you don't have the box and accessories I don't really consider your knife as a collector bringing top dollar. It is an early knife, but a user. Back then most people did not think that CRK would be collectible and it was bought to use.

Whether you get it blasted or not is kind of immaterial. Others might feel differently.
