Factory refinish and regrind?

I have a Pro Tech Runt that I lent to a friend, who basically used it as a prying tool, and generally abused it. He tried to resharpen it with one of those cheap V slotted kitchen knife sharpeners. End result was a blade that looks bad, has a semi rounded edge and missing (PVD?) coating. Any one know if Pro Tech do refinishing, as in like a bead blast, re-coat and regrind? Not really worried about the cost because this fool is footing the bill. Thanks in advance. ( I sent an e-mail a few days ago, haven't heard anything from them)

You should get yourself a new knife. I would definitely call rather than email. You will be able to get a live person on the phone and let them know what the issues are.
I doubt the company would do some of the things you would like done.

Sorry to hear about the knife. :(

^Throw out a $100 knife to get a new one because it's dull and missing some coating? Was that a joke?

No one said to throw it away. Get him to buy you a new one and give him the messed up one. I doubt they are going to do anything except maybe sharpen it for you.

What I would do is send it to the member here that does bead blasting for free and live with a bead blasted finish. Then send it to someone to sharpen. You would put probably 20 bucks into it with most of that shipping charges.

If someone maliciously/ignorantly destroyed a $100 blade of mine, you better believe that they would be buying me a brand new one. Where do you get throw it out from though?
