Factory sharp?

What was the sharpest factory made knife you have purchased? I have recently purchased several factory knives and the sharpest out of the box are:

CRKT M1 - Whoever sharpened this one was real good. I took it out of the box and I immediately noticed a large bald spot on the top of my head
Kershaw Blackout - whoa!

Which manufacturers have the sharp thing figured out?

It's hard to tell to be honest, all of mine would shave hair easily from my arm or cut vertical paper cleanly. However the one with the best finish to the edge in terms of clean grind lines has to be the MOD tempest.

The MODS come very sharp indeed, so do the Micortechs, both companies have the sharp thing down well.

The sharpest knife I have obtained has to be one of the MODS or Microtechs, though the Enduras in vg-10 are sharper than hell from the factory as well.

I'm with brownie on this one. My Socom is extremely sharp also but the grind lines are not as clean as the MOD, so i would say MOD had the better edge. No biggie, The Socom is superior in every other way;)

The only knives that I have that has ever cut me more than once are:
CRKT small wasp, Benchmade Park Avenue. Both are small one handed openers, for some reason these always seem to get the better of me.
And a collaboration between Fallkniven and Marbles, an A2 steel kraton handled knife that has a wicked edge.

I think Kershaw has the sharpest factory edge for a production knife. Every one of mine came shaving sharp. I have got other big name brand knives that seem to take their sheeple lawyers advice and have rounded tips and edges sharp enough to almost cut through hot butter.

I would say Spyderco in general and their VG-10 Fred Perrin and Endura models in particular (though I have certainly not handled all of their different models) and I would also say my Bark River Knife & Tool Highland Special was pretty incredible as well.

I got my Perrin and my Highland on the same day and let me tell ya', I saw fear in the eyes of all the sheets of scrap paper on my desk that day...

Spyderco, Microtech, and Dalton all come eye popping sharp. I have never tried a European made knife (SKM/AB, Mikov, Boker, Puma, etc.) that was sharp from the factory.

I would say Spyderco are consistantly very sharp straight from the box.

On recieving my Calypso Jnr I managed to nick myself, but I honestly didn't realise I had until I saw the blood, no feeling of drag or pressure at all.

I've never seen an out-of-the-box production knife that I would consider truly well sharpened. Some have had nice symetrical bevels; but, none were as sharp as they could have been with a little extra work.

Spyderco has sharp figured out... they even started by making knives sharp before going off on thier own.

Go pick up a FB05 Temperance(flat ground vg-10, thin blade to start with)... I used mine for shy of 2 months before sending it off for a sheath, still shaved clean.

I agree about the Kershaws, they are amazingly sharp. I have two of them, both 440A, and I wonder if I can keep them as sharp as the factory edge.
The CRKT M1 was a surprise. The grind is different on each side - much steeper on the left. I have been cutting tissues and such with ease.

My Spyderco Delica VG-10 came very sharp. Like yog, I also managed to nick myself without noticing until later on.

I just took delivery of a Microtech Socom that was brilliantly sharpened. One of the nicest I have *ever* seen:D

I would have to say my Spyderco Military. That one was so sharp I could touch the edge of newspaper and it would cut it. Up until then I would have said my Kershaw Whirlwind. The dullest out of the box would have to be (oddly enough) my Sebenza.

My kershaw blackout was razor sharp when i got it....kept it on the strop and still as sharp as ever.

My sebenza was very sharp when I got it...but not as sharp as I would have liked. Maybe it's the convex grind?

My S30V Native was wicked shahhhp.

But my Kershaw BOA was not, sounds like that is not the norm though.
