I was wondering what kind of results you guys have had after sending your knife to spyderco to be sharpened. Do they only do spyderco knives, what price, and how long until you get it back?

I've sent in 2 knives on 2 different occassions.
1st time Delica (standard model)
2nd time Manix 2 (Blue Sprint)

They sharpened my delica, and cleaned it all out (lint and dust in the liner area). Took approximately 7 days from when I sent it to when I got it back. It was really sharp, I'm talking out of the box sharp. I had dulled the edge to almost butterknife status.

The Manix 2 was sent in and they centered the blade for me, cleaned that knife up and touched up the edge. I was blown away seeing my knife back again in a single week. Very impressed with the service they provide. I've had nothing but good results when I email and call. Charlynn is terrific no doubt about it.

I have only sent Spyderco knives in (I now sharpen my own because I learned how and enjoy it).

Realistically, if you are wanting a Spyderco sharpened so you can use it, Spyderco does a FANTASTIC job. They are fast (usually had mine back in a week) and free (minus shipping).

Sorry, I can not help you regarding other brands...I doubt they would sharpen them based on my understanding that they are not in the sharpening or repairing business, but they offer free sharpening on the knives they make as a value added.

If you want a mirror polished edge that you can split atoms with, Spyderco is not your answer, but if you want one of the sharpest factory edges you can find...look no further.

First experience was in 2008. I sent in a white Endura and a Delica Wave to be sharpened. When I got the knives back, both of them had sticky crap all over the handles. I have no idea what it was. So I emailed them and then sent them back. I waited for 2 weeks, emailed them again, and apparently they forgot to ship. I give them credit for 2-day shipping after that, though.

The second time was about 6 months ago. I sent in a Native, ZDP Endura, Delica Wave, and a Caly Jr. SS. I got the goods back 6 weeks later (after I sent an email inquiry.) The Native and Endura came back very sharp. The Delica and Caly Jr. - not so much. And the Caly Jr, although it wasn't in the best of shape when I got it, had blade play in all directions when it came back. It could have been that they cleaned it out and some dirt that had been keeping the play at bay got removed; the blade didn't even have much of a "snap" when closing anymore. Again, I don't know whose fault that one was, but it wasn't that way when I sent it in.

And to answer your other questions: you pay to ship to them, and then include $5 for them to ship back to you. Turnaround time was about 4 weeks the first time and 6 weeks the second.

Both times I've sent knives in for sharpening the turn-around time has been 5-6 weeks. Well worth the wait, though. They come back VERY sharp!
