I will be honest and say I know very little about knives other than playing with them as a kid and movies (and we all know how accurate Hollywood is). In my spare time I like to write and I like to be as authentic as possible. One of my side projects has a character who uses knives frequently. Here are some questions I'd like answered if its not too much trouble.

When attacking an unsuspected target, what is the best place to hit that would minimize blood seepage but take them down effectivly? I've been told under the arm pit or inbetween the ribs. Also how long until the victim is unconscious or looses the ability to speak/move? Another thing was the type of weapon that would be involved in a stealth attack. I was assuming a dagger-like (double sided edge) weapon but I know nothing of specifics. Is there a site that gives some basic techniques to advance? I know enough to give a good guesstimate on how a knife fight would play out but it never hurts to know factual information.

Of the almost 30 thousand folks who have registered here, I highly doubt that there are more than a handfull that have used a knife against another person. Since you have posted in Practical Tactical I am closing this thread.
