failed attempts to buy a BK4 (...or second one)

This is kind of just a recent experience I've been dealing with that I thought some people here would get a kick out of...

So in my recent quest to get 2 each of the bk4, bk5, and bk15 I bought all but the second bk4. Last week I finally had the spare cash to spend on the second bk4; awesome! so I ordered it on my normal website from the cheapest seller offering free 2 day shipping. 2 days later my knife comes in but the box didn't look like my previous becker box, it had a second logo on half the box and felt oddly heavy. I opened it up and find not a bk4 but a Johnson Adventure Blades - Potbelly. Taking a look at the knife it is definitely a beast of a blade but it isn't my bk4 so it went back. The company was great and sent out a new one before even getting the first one back. The new one came in today. I opened up this box and guess what.... ANOTHER Johnson Potbelly! Back in the box it went....

looks like it'll be a few more days before I get my second BK4 (from a different seller this time - seems that these guys (the seller not kabar) mislabeled a whole batch)

For anyone who is about to say this is an indication that I should just put the money towards a BK9 - don't worry its in the shopping cart lol

Fairly useless thread but I figured a few people would appreciate this haha

Sounds like Steve Johnson is having some fun with his new label maker! :D

lol could be! it seemed like a nice knife for my brief encounter with it (sadly didn't get to cut anything) and was surprisingly comfortable in hand given the handle design

I heard the Johnson Adventure and ZK lines were going away too. I ordered a potbelly at the same time as my spare BK4.

I've thought about picking up a potbelly a few times. It seems to be one of the few 7inch knives out there that can chop at all. So it can be quite useful as a compact chopper/batoner.

I haven't picked it up simply because my 9 already chops well, and honestly the folding saw gets more use than any chopper I own anyway :).

But yeah, the J.A.B. line of knives has some interesting pieces, its just that most of them are too specialized for me (I.e. I don't go hog hunting, don't need a .25in thick 7in knife for chopping, etc). The gamestalker/wharnstalker and the parangatang are the highlights of the J.A.B. lineup imo.

And hopefully you get a bk4 one of these times. If not, you can keep sending me your rejected purchase attempts :P.

I couldn't get around the handle shape of the zk's/potbelly. So uncomfortable for me.

Good luck getting that 4!

Yeah. I got a Parangatang and while back and just hated the handle, thought about selling it but the balance and weight just felt so right, and the Potbelly is one I've been thinking about for a while. When I heard they were going away I decided to keep them since I'm pretty sure some time with a bench grinder will resolve my issue with the handle.
