I pulled out one of my Executives just now and found that the blades didn't stay closed, no snap, etc. Looking at it further I found that one of the springs had snapped in half while it was just sitting in the drawer.

I doubt there's anything I can do about this- no way to fix it that I can see- but I've never seen an SAK just fail like that. Has anyone else?

was the broken spring drop of? if it doesnt,it might be the theres some dirt or something that make the back spring doest work smooth... have you try any oiling? i've seen some wenger and some tools with the same problem and a drop of light oil solved the problem...

if the back spring indeed break, never mind the oiling suggestion...

i have 3 excecutive and teens of ambasador... one of my executive is about 20years old and still function flawlessly...

hope you can claim waranty of yours... goodluck buddy...

If it's broken send it back to Victorinox. They'll fix or replace it. I don't think they ever deny warranty.

The spring does sound like it is broke and usually there is no way to fix it. I have had a Victorinox knife where the internal spring failed or broke and returned it to Victorinox for repair. They fixed it and sent it back to me with new scales too! All covered under warranty. All I spent was postage to get it there.

I recently bought a used Minichamp on eBay. The seller didn't realized he sent me a bad one. The spring for the main blade was oddly broken in two, and the blade had no "snap". He offered to quickly send me a functioning one, and I told him I would send the broken one to Victorinox to see if they'll fix it. There is a page on the Victorinox site someplace where you print out a repair form, write in your details, and mail it with the knife. It's been a few weeks for me now but haven't heard back yet from Victorinox.

I have had excellent results with Victorinox's warranty. Send in the executive and they'll likely replace it.

Give it some more time. I have had to wait up to 10 weeks for my knife to get returned from Vic warranty in the US. And that is from the date they got it not when I mailed it in.
