I got another furnace and was trying out with some 52100,
before it was too late I noticed the front elements weren't firing... the blade didn't heat evenly etc.
I didn't get the hardness I wanted throughout,
the process I used was I normalized 3 cycles and then quenched

what is the process for getting this steel back to a stage where I can austentize again?

normalize 3 cycles again?
or anneal first and them normalize 3 cycles?

thanks

This is interesting so I'm following. I'm tempted to say a simple normalisation would be enough but maybe completely resetting the grain structure would be best.

I would simply austenitize and quench again. What was it 1500 degrees for a few minutes? You didn't grow the grain doing that.

I would default to Devin or Larrin but I think simply requenching is fine.
