I have a few faint scratches on my spyderco tenacious from where I honed it on the 30 degree side after a couple uses to maintain the edge.why did it scratch? and how can I take em off? They are just surface scratches.

It really may depend on the type of finish. Flitz will take out the scratches, but it may just change the current factory finish. I have no Spydercos as of yet, someone else more knowledgeable should chime in regarding the best way to remove a faint scratch or perhaps that it is not a good idea.

Knives get scratched up when you use them. Use them a bit and the scratches from using them will mask the Sharpmaker scratches. Problem solved.

Honestly, you shouldn't worry about the scratches. I'm going to guess that they came from using your knife..and well just use it! Most feel that scatches let alone faint ones are badges of honor! :D

If the scratches did occur when sharpening the cause would have been from not holding the blade properly when using the sharpmaker. Or you were taking metal off the shoulder of the edge rather than the cutting edge. IIRC Spyderco uses a 20 (40 all together) degree angle on their knives.

If you're using the knife, I'm assuming you are because you sharpened it, then you shouldn't be too concerned about scratches because it's going to get a lot more from use.

Thanks for the advice guys.I supposed the scratches are just war wounds and knowing me It's going to be alot more than that done to it before it is retired or put aside for another spyderco
