I plan on selling some of my Spyderco's, Benchmades, and Microtech's.

Where or how can I get an estimate of their value?
I would like to get a fair price, but still give a decent deal to a fellow knife lover.

Also, where is the best place to sell them to fellow knife lovers? I see that I cannot sell them here.

Thanks for any advice,

Belly

Run a search here in the "for sale" forums and on ebay. Completed transactions will give you some broad idea of their value.

I would recommend checking some of the online dealers, New Grahan, 1 Stop Knife Shop, 888knivesrus, ect and see what they are getting. This of course works if the knives you are trying to get rid of are new.

You can check out ebay for the going prices of new knives. Used knives are a different story. Go ahead and buy your gold membership here, and sell 'em to someone who will appreciate them on this forum. It's well worth the investment, and will open up lots of opportunities. If its LNIB and you want to sell it soon, price it at least 20 % less than the internet dealers and it should move.

If its used, its anyone's guess depending upon market and condition. But if you're willing to drop to 60-50% of the internet dealers price, it should move even with a few scratches and sharpenings.

I have a friend who is in the process of getting a collection of knives appraised.
If anyone here would like to buy some, I can put you in touch. I'm not a gold member & am not selling anything.
Just trying to help a friend. I've already told him to sign up here & go gold, & he intends to.

Some of these are real collectors from the feedback he's gotten so far. There are a total of 79 knives. 20 or 30 are from the 1800's. 20 or so from WW II & some from Korea. Not all are military.

He should have the appraisal soon, but the ballpark for the lot is around $50,000.
