The Fairbairn Sykes commando dagger is found in various places as a replica. I read somewhere that the original manufacturer still makes them. The problem is I don't remember what the manufacturer was. Does anyone have any ideas.
I already have a pakistani copy, which has been wall mounted, but the real thing would be more thrilling, of course. ;)

Thomas, thank you for starting this thread.
El Cid, thanks for posting the URL.

I'm the least tactical guy I know, but I have always loved that pattern of knife. THe Model #1 with the S-shaped guard has got to be one of the sexiest knives I have ever seen. I like curves on a knife the same way I like curves on a woman, and that knife has them all in the right places.

Looks like I'll be adding another one to my all too long Wish List and I will get even with you two guys one of these days. ;)

Thanks for the link, as a kid in the early fifties I had an early "knock-off" that was a POS, hey at 10 years old I didn't know any better!!! Always liked the design!! Thanks again for the link. I'd love to have an original of any origin. :)

The latest Knife World has a comprehensive article on the FS by M. Willson Offutt. I can't
imagine anything he has left out! Keeping it for reference.

Brigade Quartermasters is having a special on these. They are original manufacturer made ones and come in a fancy box, or with some papers, or something like that. 2 styles and I think one or both have the S shaped guard. Check them out.

Sorry Phil, no stag handled ones :( Only knurled metal handles :D

Thanks guys, I am in heaty agreement with all of you about this knife. Someday I will get one, sooner than later I hope.

Since I collect daggers and boot knives, I've always been interested in the FS. Have a couple in my collection. I would strongly recommend that Knife World article -- it's as comprehensive as anything I've seen on the FS. I put a copy of the article in my knife file and plan on consulting before any future FS purchases.
