I have been offered a Fairbairn-Sykes SAS dagger, but I don't know enough to tell a real one from a re-edition.

This one is all black, with some wear-through on the hilt.

The cross-guard is stamped:

Shepperd
England

Otherwise this knife has no markings.

Is this a cheapie reproduction or a real one?

Bob, I have no idea myself, but try posting it on britishblades.com as there has been a lot of discussion about FS knives recently & someone there will certainly be able to help. See you there! :-)

Pics? I've got one I inherited from my dad, a WWII Marine. It's what got me onto this board years ago. There were more than a few helpful boardmembers. Mine came from/through India, the Ishapoor Armory. There are some specific markings that denote the heritage of the knife.

There have been a couple of unheard of markings etched onto F/S daggers.
Most were private "house labels" sold to men of distinction.
Sorry I can't help you more.
BTW, have you tried asking here?
