In a nutshell:

Lock problems out of the box on both my first brand new Emersons, CQC7a and Mini Com, a Traveler i had handled, and overwhelming reports of horror stories, had soured me on my intended grail brand. Little bitter.

I STUPIDLY pawned them almost a year ago. For peanuts. And lost them.

I thought...

Went there last week and found out i accidentally somehow still owned them. They took care of me on the cost so i decided to get out the CQC7, my favorite. Still didnt trust it. Bad lock slip. Ugg.

So i decided to open it hard for a day, cleaning the lock several times between. Poof. LOCKS UP SOLID NOW! All it needed was some more break in.

Now i think i might get the Mini Com back too. Hope the problem is as easily remedied. I will if i have to, but I'm still extremely NOT COOL with sending an essentially new knife in on my dime.

But in short, foot in mouth. VERY HAPPY to finally be able to enjoy and trust this knife. My interest and faith in Emerson is finally where i had always wanted it to be when i first heard of the Raven when i was young.

Good on you to report back. Congrats, now go hide your wallet. :D

Thats no kidding!

Thx guys. Happy to be set straight. Just wish Emerson offered more smaller models. I REALLY want a 10, but its .1 inches over the concealed limit here.

.1 inches. Really.

maybe a CQC-14? I assume you have a 3.5 limit then, being that I believe the 10 is 3.6 and .1 makes 3.5. So the almost all mini's should all be an option, the endeavor (kind of a mini 10?), reliant, the new flipper rangemaster sheepdog is 3.5 as well, and you MIGHT be able to get away with the horseman (some list 3.6 though It should be 3.5 I believe)

Yep. 3.5.
Got my eye on the sheepdog and the 15. Hopefully a mini A-100 before they are discontinued.

Despite the popularity, i find the horseman hideous. Same with the reliant and snubby. Wish they had more 3.5 options. It would be sweet if they made an EKI version of the Kershaw CQC6k.

The closest thing to that would be the Mach-1 (no Wave) and the M-Wave folders. It is my opinion that the 6K is a mini version of those 2. Another Emerson that has a similar handle is the Panzer or Gut which are a custom models.

How much do some of those customs run?.... *wallet quivering in scared anticipation*
