Trying to figure out if this pawn shop find is real

Only indication it might be fake is that the edge was rolled over like crazy. Idk what the other guy did to it. Sharpened up ok, wasn't as hard to sharpen as I expected. But I don't have much experience.

Hope you got a deal on it. Blade looks in good shape. Some new scales and clip would be my next upgrade.

Welcome to BF. I can't tell from pics in first post OP. focused pics of both blades would help. Pivot looks symetrical to hole. Blade has plenty of life left on it. Does it have 154CM or s30v printed on blade. Looks great, because it has been used. If you can weigh it and report that would be good. I like BMC 154CM and s30v, compare your service with knife against some cut tests for the 940, if they are consistent within a reasonable range you scored for 75 bucks.

I cut like 30 linear feet of cardboard with it and it still sliced paper. I know its not much but i figured if it was fake it might be really poor quality and fail. But since I had to do a full reprofile I got lazy and didn't get it razor sharp. So I guess I should get it good and sharp to have a baseline. My only thing is when I got it the edge was almost mushroomed like an old chisel. Made me wonder what the last guy did to it, or if it was just soft steel. Probably took like 30 minutes to fix the edge. Also there's a weird mark in the blade, looks like someone hit it with a center punch near the edge.

Sounds like you scored, just use blade and sharpen as needed and you will work right through the weird mark. After you finish validating s30v and comparing, DavidMary, here on BF, can thin that blade out for you if your use case fits a thinner blade.

Why would you want to keep a fake anyways 🤷🏼‍♂️
To carry with me when I think I'm gonna lose a knife, and pry stuff and shotgun beers.

For example if I'm in the bush with a bunch of ppl who don't carry knives for some reason, I usually will have something like a buck bantam as well as my fixed blade. So if the $30 knife grows legs when someone borrows it I'm not mad. Maybe scratch fake in it in big letters. But I think its real. I noticed the omega springs are nice and tight where they wrap around the lock bar. Still not 100%. Need to beat on it for a few months.
