First off I'd like to say hello and that I'm new to the forum. I was wondering if anyone has heard of or seen any Benchmade knockoffs? I just picked up a 140 fixed blade and a 9050? The guy I bought it from had a ton of them. $60 for the 140 and $110 for the 9050, seemed like good prices. It just makes me wonder. If they were knockoffs they sure look damn good, in the box with warranty card. I have noticed that the 140 which is a 154CM BT finished blade scratches real easy in and out of the Kydex sheath. Just looking for some thoughts. I also nicked 1/32" off the tip of the 140 lightly prying at work. I know, I shouldn't be prying with it, but I use like a tool. I have a 710 ATS 34 combo which I've had for 6-7 years and have beat the snot out of it with no nicks or chips.

How do I post a pic in the thread? I'll post one ASAP. Any other thoughts regarding the rest of the post? Has anyone ever heard of knockoffs in a 140 or 9050?

I've not heard specifically of knockoffs of those knives.

However it is not difficult unfortunately to make knockoff knives and paperwork.

Pics would help.

Aren't both models Mil issue. I've noticed a rather noticeable amount of military stuff showing up in the last year or so (sad to say).

Looks real to me. BT (Black Ti) is a teflon finish. It scratches easily. Period. Supposedly the protection against corrosion remains despite the scratches.

As for prying. You know better. It's a fixed blade and has a longer lever arm. You probably applied more force than you intended.

To be honest I didn't apply all that much force for the chip. The blade edge also has minor abrasions, unlike my 710. My thoughts were based on experience with the ATS 34 710, which I've abused for 6-7 years in the same fashion with no damage. I then started to wonder and thought, well they were really inexpensive, did I get what I paid for, hopefully not. They both have a real nice feel to them.

Is there a stronger fixed blade that will take the abuse and hold a decent edge in the 5-6" blade range?

................and Busse, I've just picked up a couple Busse blades and I gotta say wow! All with a warranty that is bulletproof, literally, as long as it was by accident.

This is not a coppy but just a common malady, of thid model i know alot of guys who have had similar results using this knife for, "work knives".
