Fake buck sticky purpose

Back when we created the sticky on the fake Buck market, it was intended to be a collection of photos of fakes to aid in ID with only mild to none discussion on the laws and politics. Actually things are not really bad yet.

There has been some behind the scene discussion, that too much writing might or could start increasing in that sticky thread and it should be in some other location that discusses knife laws and copy rights and other such stuff. That folks trying to look over fake knifes have to zoom thru more talk than is needed. Lots of the talk has had a question and answer style. Today two threads are going talking about counterfeits. Some of those photos should be in the sticky. But the opinions on the counterfeiters and politics should stay in the thread. Remember this is a Buck knife forum, all threads have to tie in directly to Buck knives.

I think I agree that the long deep political discussions need to be somewhere else. If you wish to discuss Buck copyright infringements then a regular thread should be started so folks will know what is going on in it. And that early on they realize to post photos in both the sticky and thread, long discussions in the thread.

Anyway what do you say , clean up the sticky from talk, start a new thread or leave things alone.

PS Starting a sticky is not simple, and I personally don't want to see two dozen sticky's at the top of the page. So I am not in favor of making a talk sticky. There are actually other forums in specialized purposed location discussing copyright infringement and the good ole USA. So I am asking you want to clean up the fake sticky a little when discussion becomes political or leave it alone. I would likely mention the sticky is not for long discussions every once in a while and make comment if someone goes beyond reasonable questions and answers. My last option would be to move a posting to a current thread or start one with it.

Please Vote, comment, discuss.

I vote to clean up non-picture bearing posts in order to make the sticky a quick reference for buyers, sellers, collectors, law enforcement and other interested parties world wide. This would make it relatively easy and quick for someone to see the fakes and decide if their target knife was a fake or not. KISS

When posts to this thread have their photos die then give em the pitch like posts 118, 120 and 127.

Some of the discussion is brilliant and cherished (thank you kindly Thomas Linton, see post #31). However, some users can't read English, won't take the time to read, only want a quick reference or think that logic and reason will make their fake/counterfeit turn into a silk purse if they simply BS enough.

Dear Buck Forum members, if you have good knowledge of Buck's product line throughout its history then you can carry some serious water for your marquee by posting unique photos(s) and disclose seller location of fakes/counterfeits (should be within USA IMHO) here for all to see. This sticky is the de-facto Approved by Buck Knives, Inc. library of Buck fakes and counterfeits.

Yesterday I communicated with a disabled veteran in the USA about selling fake/counterfeit buck knives on the popular auction site. He cussed me up one side and down the other. After visiting the sticky fake thread he thanked me. I thank you members for hard work posting to this thread and making it valuable for the victims of crime and others.

I have a tendency to get pissed off when I see the criminal element taking advantage of vets. If anyone, you know who you are, knows the USA wholesaler(s) please don't hesitate to contact Homeland Security. I've tried for years to drill down to big players without joy.

Maybe clean up the sticky to photo posts only, move the discussion posts into a discussion thread.
And merge the current discussion threads.so.all the discussing is together?

I just edited & removed a whole post on the sticky thread on the fakes and the government agency sweeps last weekend. I did not realize that sticky thread was a world wide resource for photos to weed out fakes from the real ones......sorry, and  for all your efforts to help people not be fooled by the BUCK knock offs. Nice Job!

I'll vote along with what Oregon said but leave any discussion posts that contain descriptive information.

It's been a while since I've been thru it, but I would definitely say take the b.s. stuff out.

I have no comment, your the mod Craig you set the tone and we'll follow your lead.

OK, Many posts have already been removed. As others have said if you have some good info in one just leave it.

But, lets all work together to keep this sticky running as mainly a photo resource and fake information outlet.

Lets do 'discussions' and 'fat chewing' someplace else. I will need everyone's help for the future and will do my best to read thru the first 10 pages for anything that is not needed. Leave me PM if you need to point something out.
