Fake Emerson Karambit?

Can anyone help me determine if this is real or not? I am skeptical because of the blade profile but it could be an older one, right?

{Try posting a picture instead, there is no need to link to a sales site and it is against the rules.}

I would ask for more detailed pictures of it. I can't see the third hole, which the pocket clip covers up most of the time, but I would ask for more detailed photos before doing anything. The blade profile is like that of the older ones.

Be very wary - I have seen dozens of fake Emerson Karambits on eBay with varying levels of detail. Even with satisfactory pictures and descriptions, I would contact the seller and ask to make sure that he or she will take a full return and reimburse your return shipping if you determine it to be a fake.

I have been trying to buy it since he originally listed it at 150 about a month ago. He doesn't want to ship it (probably because nobody seems to like paypal these days). But I guess as long as he tells me its real/authentic and I use paypal with buyer protection then I should be good.

Well, I offered him $130 to ship it to me even though he is only asking $100, so I don't know who wouldn't want to take that.

If it's an older model it should be dated accordingly. It sure doesn't look like my 2014 model bought directly from Emerson, different number of holes in the G10, different screw placement and number of screws and the ring is too thin. My $.02.

Could be the reason why he refuses to use paypal.

Is saving a few bucks really worth all the drama and risk? Save up and get an authentic one if thats what you really want.

If it is the difference between spending $150 on a used real one and $250 on a real new one I would rather try and save the money. That's why I attempt to do my research and seek advice from experts like you guys.

Well I just bought an Emerson Karambit second hand and I had my doubts because of the very low price, but I hadn't seen the fake ones on the internet yet so I took a chance. Then I looked at the knife and it just didn't seem right. And now I found this, which is what it is. [We don't link to sites that sell counterfeit items] I'll see if I can send it back because this is not what I thought I bought. You live, you learn, right?

If it's too good to be true...

Price is way to low to be authentic.

Emerson doesn't use 440C. He uses Philips screws for the scales not hex/torx. Clip and the handle contours look off too. Shipping an American made knife from China is suspicious as well.

Sorry dude, you've been duped.

It's best to stick to knife dealers. BladeForums supporting dealers is a great place to start. Here is the list for future reference.

These are the Karambit models directly from Emerson's site. Check them out.

Well as I said I bought it second hand from a local 'craigslist' and I didn't find this Chinese website untii I had the knife in my hand. If I had seen this website first I would have never bought the knife. But yes, even before I knew it was too good to be true.
The seller claims he was duped as well, having traded a Spyderco Delica for it. He offers to refund half, but I don't want the fake Emerson for any price. I can report him for scamming me but that's not really my style...
Anyway, it's not all bad. I got a NIB CS Gurkha Kukri for almost half the Retail price (half of actual Retail, not half of MSRP). Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose & learn.

Do not post links for sites that are known dealers for counterfeit items, or auction sites, or sales sites that are not on the dealers list, or quote posts that reference the former.

Sorry Rev. Sorry Gimmick too, I guess my comprehension skills need work from time to time.:foot::D

Hope you like the Kukri.

If you are still interested in Emersons, keep an eye out on the Exchange. They pop up at pretty good prices quite frequently.

Well I'm returning the knife to the seller and getting my money back and he is probably getting the spyderco back that he traded it for. So I did us both a favor :D
