i was at a big swap meet yesterday looking around when i see a knife booth, i had done bussiness with this guy before and knew he had some pretty good deals.
so i start looking at his knives when one in particular catches my eye, an emerson commander, i automatically ask to see it.
so before the guy hands it to me he has to show off the wave on it, and lets me try, so i take my knife out of my pocket (spyderco delica) and try to wave open the emerson, didnt work the first two times and finally opened on the third.
after he is done demonstrating, i ask how much he wants for it, "fifty dollars" he says
, so i finally get it in my hands and realize its a fake.
the liner engaged about 85%, tons of blade play, shoddy finish, crazy dull, i was so dissapointed.
so i hand it back to him and asks if i want it, i say "no i dont have that much money, so he says "how about for your spyderco?" "hell no!" i think to myself and kindly say no.
the moral of this story is to watch out, look over knives very well or else you will get totally ripped off.
he did have some leatherman blasts there for 30 bucks which i thought was a pretty good deal.
anybody have any "fake knife" stories that they would like to share?
