Rant on:
Time and time again i see long button autos being sold as factory made
And on asking told special order direct from factory distridistrabter !
Nothing i say changes their mind!
Telling ebay seems to do no good !

Bro..Ebay is for sellers..What bothers me is the total fake 112 auto's from China.

I saw one at the flea market I told him it wasn’t real he didn’t say anything just stuck it back in the fake box and ignored me

Tony Wagner has taken over the anti counterfit responsiblilties from Joe Houser last I heard.
Email Tony the ebay link at twagner@buckknives.com.
Manufacturers can register with eBay as holders of trademarks and ebay pays a bit more attention to them is my understanding.

A few years ago I was looking at some online and then did some research. They were Buck 110s and 112s alright and you could send your own in, but the automatic modification was not factory or approved and the warranty was voided. I decided to forget about that purchase.
They would find out in short order if they sent them into Buck for repair. I know a few people that were interested in them and I told them they were not factory authorized to modify but they weren’t concerned and couldn’t understand why.

I guess after years of accepting fakes and all the cheap shoddy work some people don’t have much consideration for quality and originality much less loyalty.

"Fake" or "Unauthorized Conversion"?

You can have genuine Buck knives that are auto conversions. They are not "Fake", but they are not authorized by Buck. Some are done extremely well. Now, if they are converted in a factory in China, they are a "factory conversion", but not the Buck factory!!

I have owned a Cumblerland Knives conversion for 20 years and it is a genuine Buck 110. It is a well done conversion. It is not an "authorized conversion" to my knowledge.

In the old days, there were not any Buck factory autos, so if you wanted a Buck auto, you had to buy a conversion.

IIRC Buck only introduced their own factory auto in the last 1 yr or so this might be a return of them I don't know if they had them long ago as well but definitely didn't have them for a long time until very recently.

If you think ebay is for the sellers, you know nothing about ebay. 1st a buyer can leave whatever feedback they want to about a seller, a seller HAS to leave positive feedback. Although I state "no returns" a buyer said there was something wrong with the product. In 1 week ebay refunded his money, sent him a return label at my expense and when I received it the package wasn't even unwrapped. Also, I couldn't leave him anything but positive feedback, so I left none....

As far as fake Bucks get ahold of Buck, they'll take care of it. Ebay doesn't care as long as the buyer doesn't complain and if they do all that will happen is they'll get their money back....

I’ve had the opposite experience I got scammed by a seller in China and eBay backed them.

eBay encourages fakes. Fake Buck and KaBar knives come up as “sponsored results”. I’ve heard they aren’t liable because they have a disclaimer.

On the KaBar forum the moderator said the vast majority of warrantee claims are fakes. Sad state of affairs. People being ripped off deliberately by other people breaking the law. And nothing can be done about it.

I just wrote on my cars bumper “I’m not liable for anything I hit”. So I’m covered.

In another forum they were talking about the Indiana knife show. A seller had Buck 110’s & 122 autos. In boxes clearly marked made in USA.

When he looked the knives said made in China.

I can't stand takes, but luckily I don't buy new knives off eBay and don't buy any collectable / valuable knives either.
I just buy users in decent condition or every once in a while a NOS knife or one that just wasn't used much if at all.
No Bucks off eBay yet, but I've searched the name periodically to see what catches my eye.
