Are the Hoodlums for sale by Amazon LLC fakes ? They are going for $116.00. I was told this was to low. The people at Amazon say they buy them from Buck. What do I look for to discern a fake ? Thanks in advance for your input.

Free shipping, too. Good deal.

Hard to tell with Amazon......there are never good pictures as you can get with e-Bay.

I'm inclined to think this is a natural lowering of price as supply catches up with demand.

Pay with a credit card and send it back if it turns out to be a fake.

They look real to me. I once bought several of these for 69.00 each and flipped them for a nice profit. I'm sure they bought in bulk and can afford to sell them for this reduced price and still make a profit...

They're $113.39 now.....free shipping.

Seeing that the BCCI discount puts them at $96.80 on the website.......that ain't a bad deal.

I suspect prices are starting to get more sensible.

Man I hope so. I bought it then fakes were brought to my attention, so I started digging. That's how I found blade forums. I also found this-

I found another one that had choppy English to, but cant find it again. I sent both to Buck. I called them to and told me that Amazon LLC said they bought them from buck. I'm hoping that there is some identifying mark or number on the knife that can be used to ID it. Thank you for the input guys.

If you will check, none of the Hoodlums are being sold directly by Amazon. They are all being offered by other dealers through Amazon.

The $113.39 price (the cheapest one), would be a great buy if they are real. That's less than the "dealer cost" of 50% off the MSRP of $230. If as a Life Member of the BCCI, you ordered one through Larry Oden it would be $126.50 plus shipping.

Ooops. I see that now Buck has raised the MSRP $12 to $242. That would make the price some higher from Larry.

Do any examples of fakes exist ? And a lady at Buck filled me in on the cost difference to and as I think about it it just sounds to good to be true. As far as the sale go's I am protected. I can send it right back and get a refund. If this is a fake I would like to get Buck on to this one seller so that they can put a stop to it. I purchased this knife from Amazon LLC. and after the possibility that it could be fake came up I called them (Amazon) and asked them about it. Two reps told me thees knives come from Buck knives. I called Buck to see if they could confirm this, but I got the impression she did not want to go into it, or did not want to. That does not bother me, and I understand where she is coming from. Heck, One 60% of the reason I chose the Hoodlum was because it was made by Buck. As it is, I will either have bought a real good knife at a real good price, or an expensive piece of junk. Either way, it is a lesson learned.

dude, did you talk to a Rep at Amazon or to the dealer selling them? Since everyone listed is sold and shipped from another source and not Amazon itself, I wonder how Amazon would know where the sellers got them.

Relax, Dude.....it's all good. Almost zero chance it's a fake.

Amazon will take care of you.

They always do.

Oh I am sure they will. It has been exciting, and the intrigue alone has been worth the money spent. Thank you all for responding. I will post pics when it gets here. That should be Wednesday.

Mine was ordered from Amazon, LLC, Oct 24 for $112.73 shipped... according to Mrs. Santa. Looks real/fine to me. So does the $48.24 113 fb Ranger (It was $6 cheaper the next day!). Sometimes a deal is just a deal.

Stainz

PS It is a 'Lon Woode' 'Hoodlem', isn't it??

That would be so if you were one of those oriental fellers, but in American it would be Ron Hood. Got it today and held it side by side with a friends. If its fake, its a DARN good one. It came with all the normal Buck stuff in a Buck box. In my opinion that's to much effort for a fake.

Glad it worked out.

I was sure it would be ok.

I'm glad to see the prices coming down again. They were a little crazy there for a while.

Use it in good health.

And use it I will ! I went out back and delimbed some trees and bushes, and battened some reasonable sized chunks of firewood. This is my first foray into large knives, and the handle and finger choile make it easier to get used to. Still feels awkward, but only when attempting precision work. This knife is a beast. Cant wait to try it on the trail.

Sorry! I have been working, goofing off on another forum, and playing with my knife. Ah, how do you add an attachment ?

You post the link to the pics inside these commands:

Good luck.
