I am hoping a Mod will answer this question for me. Is there anywhere on the site that you can post fake, bogus, counterfeit knives that are being offered on ebay and other sites so that people looking for knives can be educated about what's genuine and what's not??

Thanks Mike

There's not a specific forum or thread, but some of the manufacturers with subforums have open threads to highlight counterfeits of their own products. Benchmade and Buck come to mind.

If you have experience with a specific seller on ebay that is pushing counterfeits then a thread in the Feedback forum would be appropriate.

Maybe in BL's collecting/identification forum?

Hi Mike,
I think there are a couple of brand-specific threads in the various manufacturer forums. And I would say that's the correct place for them.

My concern is that if you point out the failings, the crooks will learn also and fix them.

Thanks but that would not help the person looking at older folders. I might get in trouble for this but here is a knife on ebay that is a fake.

That is really not possible, I am talking about old, vintage, antique folders. Those of us that go after them can tell when we see a fake. There have been fakers for years and many of us know what they are because we have been schooled on other sites and by going to shows and handling knives. There is also a book on counterfeiting knives but it's a hard book to find some people starting out need all the help they can get. Many knives that are faked are not being sold by the people who faked them but \by people that bought them thinking there are legit and then try and flip them.

I still am amazed that a knife site would not want to have a section that helps knife collectors by showing faked knives??? Is there no way to start a thread in the traditional section that shows fakes??

Ah. In that case I agree with r8shell r8shell and think the place for such a thread would be Levine's
