fake or real Michael Prater certificates

I recently bought 3 new Buck 110 Michael Prater modified, on EBay when I got them there was no Prater signed certificate with them. I contacted the seller asking about them and he stated M. Prater does not supply them.

I thought that was strange as I have bought from 3 other sellers who have supplied them with each knife I bought.

The seller checked and got back to me and stated that he spoke directly to Michael (even gave me his phone number so I could call) and verified that only those knives from his site or painted pony comes with certificates.

So are the 3 other venders forging these?

Interesting

If you have M. Prater's phone #, why don't you go directly to the source & find out?? Nothing like a definitive answer when you have the means to get it.

I plan to call tomorrow

It stills brings up the question if he does not supply them (and I have a stack of them) then I am not the only one with fake certs, I think that may be worth collectors knowing.

I hope there is a simple answer that can set it straight though these certs were in the boxes with what is supposed to be his signiture.

OK, I'm a little confused here...are you worried that the *knives* are counterfeits??? Copies of prater modified knives??? Or just that the knives are real Praters, but someone is printing out copies of his certs???

If the knives are real Praters, I don't see a problem...even if the cert is a copy...

I'd be more concerned about why the others *didn't* come with certs... :grumpy:

(Although that problem is easily solved, if as you say, you have a pile of them)

well now that you said that both- if the certs are fake but the knives are not then the dealers suck if the knives are fake then that sucks more

That's what got me started

Damn Ebay!

Azis,

Ok here are the facts

I spoke to Michael Prater in fact I had a very long talk with both he and his wife. They are really great people to say the least.

There are no certificates issued with the Buck 110's the modifications are real as no one else does this work or has this material other than Prater. So they don't know where the certificates are from and I don't know why someone is printing them but now the facts are stated. So to be clear a custom painted pony does come with a certificate, but not the modified 110's.

In additon Michael told me that they will be making public some great news on something very special they are doing for the Blade show. I don't want to spoil it but it's going to be really nice and even more so for Buck 110 fans.
