Fake Para 3 - Are they out there?

My brother in law ordered a Para 3 from Amazon, with Amazon being the seller. I informed him that the PM2 is probably one of the most faked knives out there right now and to be careful when ordering from Amazon. After looking around myself, I think I feel a little better about him ordering since the seller is Amazon and supposedly, the fakes have come from online stores selling via Amazon. Now, I know that some fakes can be returned to Amazon and there's always that chance.

But since the Para 3 is relatively new, I think he's pretty safe. I've not seen any fakes but I'm admittedly not nearly as knowledgeable as many of you folks are about stuff like this.

If you have any comments about the possibility of getting a fake Para 3, let me know. Has anyone seen a fake Para 3? If so, where did you see it? This is my brother in law's first Spydie, so I'm hoping that he doesn't get a bad one, i.e. fake, as his first.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

I haven't seen any yet, but counterfeiters start working on them as soon as they find one to copy. If the knife is sold by or fulfilled by Amazon, the chances are slim to none; and Amazon backs up their product. The fakes are still stupid easy to spot in hand. Any seller shipping from oversees (shipping time says 3 weeks or more) or the price new is 70% of Amazon's price is guaranteed to be fake

I have no idea whether there are counterfeits or not as I am not involved in monitoring or enforcing such issues on behalf of Spyderco, but how in the heck does one conclude there are no counterfeits simply because some posts on a forum assert there are no counterfeits?

before i goto buy a legit knife i research it. most of these clones are bought from a few different spots, check those spots to verify. this is difficult because they will name these different things, so its a little bit of a process, but generally this is how you do it. i will not name those places because i dont want to advocate even looking at clones as people get tempted and clones are wrong.

You are much more confident than me to conclude "the answer is no" as to whether there are any fake Para 3 knives on the market based on the data you provided. Perhaps there are several "spots" which have a reputation for selling fakes but I would not definitively conclude "the answer is no" just because those particular "spots" are not listing fakes.

that and its too soon. I mean they could hit the market any day now tbo. as far as now, myself and others haven't seen them yet.

OK you and "others" haven't seen any fakes is a much more reasonable statement than there are no fakes.
