Another fake Randall model 1, being sold tonight on Ebay by a guy using the handle "animal undertaker" from Solingen, Germany. EBay item number #323165212256...five bids in and the "schlock" is already up to $305 US.

Caveat emptor.

Hey Doc,
How do you know it's a fake? Not calling you a liar, just looking for edification.

These Eastern Europe fakes have been around for probably 2 decades now. They run short auctions, and take what they can get for them. From a distance they look like a beat Randall, up close :( -

Good question, and there are many points detailing this counterfeit. Shape of the belly down near the point, I picked that out at a glance (supposed to resemble a model 1, which I have).
The Randall stamp is askew, not level with the bevel grind line.
The brass guard was made lop-sided...too much on the low and not enough on the high side.
The pitting in the blade itself, with all the grind marks. There is a difference between beat-up and recent-ground.
The line of the leather handle grind is erratic, not smooth.
The leather rings are all wrong (too thick), and the tail-end spacers don't fit properly.
The sheath is a REAL piece of work, like it was made last week by an eight year old...and examine the Randall stamp in the back of the sheath (all wrong).
The numbers on the back of the sheath are leaning, and not lined up.
The stone looks like something someone might pick up to scrub their grill at a burger-stand.
The seller claims the knife is in Germany, but is based in Spain. Where was this counterfeit really made, and do I get to go stab the guy - with one of my real Randall knives - who has produced the forged Randall stamps? Because, out of respect for the real McCoy, this "puppy" attempts to undermine the greatest fighting knife maker of all time.

Very impressive man. I don't know much about these knives but your attention to detail is incredible.

I contacted eBay and seller in his feedback he's been busted before. I bought a counterfeit valloton once eBay took care of me but I was really upset. Real pic and ships me a fake.
