Here is an interesting one that I picked up. It is your typical 4 blade camp/utility with some nice bone handles. However, it has a schrade walden #175 blade as the main.

I thought that the 175 was a 1 blade pattern? The blades all look like they belong, and the fit of the sheepsfoot?? is good.

There are no other marks on this knife other than the tang on the main blade.

If this is a mutt, someone did a nice job on it. The knife itself is a rock solid piece, with great snap an all the blades, and it has the old style can opener on it, so it has some age to it.

A very interesting piece indeed. Even if it is a redone, it is a nice knife.

Thoughts, comments anyone?

Maybe it was sent back to Schrade for repair, and that was the blade that was replaced? I know that's hardly a definitive answer, but that's the best one I could think of.......So, I'm sticking with it. :D

Nice cigar box, Glenn. :)

Thanks Bill,

a lady I know was cleaning out her father's basement, and told me to snag anything that I had an interest in. Along with some tools, I took that. Presently, I use that as my 'staging area'. That is where I keep the knives that need to be preserved/stabilized that I plan to work on first.

I say first, because I have a carry case with the rest of them piled in there waiting to be worked on. I was planning on bringing that with me when Larry, Phil, etc., and I get together next week. However, it looks like I may be out of town that week. :( :grumpy:

That is a nice knife, I really like the camper pattern and I really like the sheepfoot blade.

I was helping a lady I know to clean her basement, she took off her clothes and told me to snag anything that I had an interest in. I took a knife and some tools, since her clothes weren´t my size (adapted from an old joke, sorry, couldn´t resist).

Ha-Ha....I'll be here all week folks, try the veal...

That looks to me like an older (pre WWII) Camillus made military scout/utility pattern knife. Someone apparently did a GREAT job of fitting that Schrade blade in there, yes the 175 was a single blade sheepsfoot knife.

The bone, the frame, the iron bolsters all look like Camillus....

Out of town, Glenn!? Damn. Wanted very much to meetcha.

Old wooden cigar boxes are where I keep knives as well... those I may give away, sell, cleanup a bit, whatever, as well as sheaths and accouterments.

Cigar boxes and pocket knives just go together.

Whatever.. that is an interesting knife. I like it. Mini-rant: How much more fascinating a knife like this is than a brand new BenchmadeCaseFlipper-sticker-linerless-thumbstud-G-10-exotic steel you know what I mean. And what interesting discussions we have here. Thank you everyone for not posting dribble like "Tip up or Tip down Carry?"

Phil

I love sebenzas.....(sorry, just had to)

Your knife is typical of the kind of mistakes Schrade made also a lot of these were put together by workers and just carried home. The 175 blade does seem to fit nice and i could see someone doing it if they had a purpose for that style blade. It would not be a big deal to do if someone just had a camper with a bad blade and a 175 and then decided to make one good user. Nice find. LT

OK on the Sebenza, Glenn... I quietly keep a Walther allied forces in my right hip pocket at times.

But Plu-eezzzeee... please. No "tip up or tip down" carry discussions, OK? Some dweeb in the general forum was crying about reaching into his pocket and stabbing his finger on his tip up ready-to-rumble knife. Gee... One carries a deadly-quick-deployment-weapon in his pocket and then wonders why he got the ouchy when he was careless. Let's get that guy nice safe tradional folder. And hope he doesn't apply for a concealed pistol permit.

But that is an interesting knife that started this thread. I like it.

I think I'm gonna start a thread about FIXED blade carry in the much respected Tip UP, no sheath, hip pocket, method of carry, just for Phil..... :D

OK, maybe not.

Bill

boy have I got a scar to show you from Tip Up rear pocket..

Its on my wrist.. Seems I forgot I put it there.

Phil,
Call me when you get into town

Man!!!

That sucks that I won't be in town next week to meet you guys. And I wanted to show off my collection. :(

Well, Phil, Larry, etc., you boys behave. Keep the ping pong ball discussions to a minimum. And I don't want to see your vehicles parked in the lot at the Golden Banana on Route 1, or Blue Moon in Hudson, NH.

Talk to you guys when I get back...

Glenn

I was told the Golden was just bulldozed. The Green Apple is still open.
Havent been to that side of 93 in many years.
And then theres always the 10 in Salsbury.

We'll miss you. Im sure there'll be a few stories to share.

Larry

Well, we're leaving in the morning. Can I get a good price on a Russel/Grohman knife while in Canada?

Would any time Monday be good? Seems to be the day my girlfriend will let me out. Plus they are doing some kinda little running thing in Boston that day. I haven't had time to get into shape, so I'll have to pass on that. Steve, does that work for you? Will it work best for me to make the short trip up to Plaistow? Probably, as I wanna see some of NH.

Anyway, I'll check into the forum here before I leave, and I'll call you, Larry, Sunday.

Uhhmmm... LT? Wanna take that new RV on another shake down cruise?

Golden Banana?

Thanks for the invite but I will pass. Have a good time. I will stay here and keep things confused with my ramblings. I apologize for not digging out some of the other gambling stuff, just to dang busy but i will try to get to it. It is not in a real accessable spot. LT

Monday's gonna be tight. We are in Norwood Ma in the morning and early afternoon (Funeral) and I'm supposed to work till 6. Tuesday might be better but I'll know better Sunday.
Aint much to see in Plaistow sept stripmalls and used car dealers.. Head for Hampton beach and then Portsmouth for seacoast and shipping sites. and then up Rt 16 towards Rochester. then south on 125 back to 495 which will take you right through Plaistow.

Call..

OK I'll call. We'll work something out, easy enough.

Lt... do try and keep a handle on these guys.

Phil
