After a lot of searching I still cannot find a source for FAKE samegawa. Does anyone know where I can get or even how to cheaply make fake/imitation/synthetic rayskin/samegawa? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

While the real stuff is certainly not terribly expensive and I do have the tools to work with it, I don't need to trouble myself that much with these projects. Or spend that much. Not when the fake stuff should be even cheaper and definitely easier to use.
 
So after more of a search I came up with the idea of contacting Ebay sellers that sell items that use imitation rayskin and asking about their supplier. So far... No real luck. It seems this fake, and apparently very cheap, imitation stuff is a closely guarded secret. :-( I will keep searching. But if anyone has any leads I might leverage that would be greatly appreciated.
 
Google is your friend - searching "fake rayskin leather" and digging through the results, I found these 3 links listed below....

Also, in searching around, I found several references to fake rayskin, all several years old and they basically all were negative about it, essentially a fake pattern embossed on plastic (probably vinyl) that easily cracked. The source links for those fake rayskins posts are all dead.

One link to a company that sells it but it is listed as out of stock. You might be able to contact them and see when they will get some more in.
