New to CRK folders, just received my second Sebbie, and have been reading many posts regarding fakes. Question is: would fakes have the requisite Quarter/Year stamp on the inside of both handles? If not, that should be a great way to tell the real from the fantasy. Aye? Thanks in advance for your thoughtful replies...;-)

I don't know about the fakes so much as I try to stay away from them. If you post pictures of the knife in question, I'm sure that we could give an opinion if it looks authentic or not.

No photos as I am pretty positive both of mine are real - based on the criteria stated in several helpful BF posts. Just wondering if anyone knows of a fake that had an appropriately placed date stamp. Thanks...;-)

On a similar note, Mnandis don't have a stamp inside the scale. I freaked out once when I was wondering of one was real and noticed it didn't have a stamp on the inside.

The fakes do not have the same markings, and there's other telltale signs of the fakes, but I'd rather not discuss on an open forum.

Why should anyone believe they have a full understanding of all variants of fake CRKs? It seems like flawed logic to think you could possibly keep up with the counterfeiting in the world, and as soon as someone decrees that a simple 3-digit stamp deems a knife authentic, some clever faker will realize just how easy it is to add such a mark.

This is very true, any mark put on a knife by CRK can be copied easily by anyone making fakes. The tooling marks, finishing, refinement, price and packaging are what make the fakes stand out over a genuine knife. . :)

I base my determination of the legitimacy of the Sebenzas that I own primarily on the standards listed by Haze above. Sound logic to assess all aspects of said object, including possibility of date stamp. Always learning, eh? Thanks again for all of your kind replies...;-)

Not discussing this is more harmful than not discussing it. Someone is going to get ripped off due to ignorance.

You can always email/report to Chris Reeves in the sticky thread he made.
