Fake Smock?

Took a chance and bought this Smock off Amazon. It looked like it was coming from the Spyderco store. When I got it, I compared it to as many pics online as I could find, and it looked legit, though I am anything but a knife expert. I recently traded it to a fellow who then traded it to someone who says that it’s a clone. I’ve sorted it all out with the other parties and it will be on its way back to me shortly. These are the only pics I have, but I can post more once I have it back in my possession. For now, does anyone see anything that would suggest it’s a fake? TIA ….

One thing I noticed is that the blade steel stamping on mine is closer to the jimping and down lower on the blade. Not sure if that means anything or not. I'm definitely not the expert on here! I also know that Spyderco recently upgraded the pivot on the Smock. Yours and mine would be the old style. Hope others on here can prove its real for you! 👍🏻

Compare it w/pics of Smocks on the Net. I use to have one but sold it a long time ago.

Spacing, spelling, letting type and positioning used on the blade are all relevant. Any differences in materials/parts used can also be significant.

Also, most fakes I've seen do not have genuine Spyderco boxes. Does the box end have the printed model name, # & bar code on it? Fakes never do.

Yes, I see the difference there. I think I got screwed. I’ll look it over closely and examine the box as well when I get it back. It’s a fun fidgeter, so at least there’s that.

Again, Sir, not saying one way or another....just one thing that I noticed. I hope it's real! The Smock is one of my favorites!!! 🤩
 
That's a fake. As mentioned above, the engraving is in the wrong position, and the carbon fiber does not have the right finish/texture. The scales are the big giveaway on this one. Compare to this retailer pic and the difference is clear:

Just got the Smock back today. Here are a few pics of the box, contents, and another pic of the clip side. Probably doesn’t mean anything at this point, as it already seems clear it’s a clone, but what the hell.

The thumb-hole on the suspicious one is at the edge of the hollow grind. The others pictured are 2-3mm away it appears…
Damn those cloning clowning bastards! 💀🫤🤡
 
It also looks like the edge of the spydie is radiused to relieve the hard edge.... The suspicious one is not radiused at all, just a hard milled hole.
 
Can't comment on real or not but I've cut myself on spidie holes. I bought a stone for softening them now.

My biggest complaint with Spyderco. The hole is as sharp as the edge. 20cv endura was my sharpest.

Box looks legit but could be a fake knife returned to Amzn in a legit box & then resold. 😡
