i got a domino for my brithday( wifes are amazing)now not to look a gift horse in the mouth a few things cought my eye frist the spyder trademark is deeper than say my gayle bradley and has a bronze hue. the action is gritty , its the detent ball slideing across the rough finish on the tang.the knife came in a sealed plastic bag with no edge-u-cation paper in the box otherwize its just like my gayle bradley in fit if not finish. my question is are there good fake dominos out there?

Just checked aliexpress. There is no sale on dominos. So it should be original. Put a drop of oil and open/close dozen times and action will soften. By the way, happy birthday. :)

My domino came in a sealed plastic pouch as well, and I got mine from the Spyderco outlet store in golden so it's safe to say mine is authentic lol. Also, there is no ed u caution paper work with it. However, I have seen Domino like knives on Alicrap (aliexpress) so they are out there. They do not call them "Domino" but rather by the product number C172. I have not gotten my hands on one yet to compare as they are rather expensive "replicas".

Sorry forgot to mention the Spyderco logo. On the Domino and a few other Taichung Spydies (Chaparell comes to mind) the logo is indeed forged deeper into the steel.

I have seen many legit spydies ship without edge u cation papers in the box. Including a blade I bought at the factory outlet store. I wouldn't take the lack of paper riding shotgun in the box as proof of anything. I hope yours is real.

I've had 4 Dominos. Never gritty, always came with the edge u cation paper and never gritty. Always smooth as silk. I would ask her where she got it from. The missing paper prolly doesn't mean a lot, but the gritty action concerns imo.

I don't want to sound like a jerk but these threads are getting annoying. There is a pinned thread ay the top of the Spyderco forum to discuss possible fakes and what to look for. I do hope yours turns out to be authentic.
