I wanted to document a fake Strider/Buck 888 I recently purchased.

Here are my observations….

Screws are very soft and no two are alike.

Scales appear to be a cheap smooth plastic, not G-10.

Jimping on scales (if that’s the correct term) don’t line up with blade steel jimping

Lanyard hole on real versions appear to have a brass insert, mine has nothing.

Buck logo is laser etched as the correct version is stamped

Missing Buck stamp date

Please add or correct anything I may have missed.

It has only two screws and they appear alike. In what sense are they "soft"?

If it's a fake, is this to be a primer for the fakers so better fakes can result?

The screws damage very easy when using a torx wrench very so lightly.

You will notice the two outer rings around the head, the ring depth is more pronounced. Also, the female screws are not centered. See bottom two screws.

The markings look wrong and incomplete.

Many took sandpaper to the handles, not buying the cheese-grater-is-good argument.

You could ask Buck. They have a sub-forum.
