Fake Surefire knife

I got this knife in a batch of other knives on an online auction. I didn't know anything about Surefire knives, so I was excited when I thought I found one in the batch, and learned they were valuable.

By looking at other posts on this site, I think I've found that this one is a fake. It resembles a Crank model but is not the same size, and has some slightly different features.

However, I have never seen any (other?) Surefire knife in person, Crank or otherwise. This knife weighs in at 6.1 ounces, is a little over 8.5" long open, and the blade is over 3" long...about 3.5". (I don't have a very accurate ruler handy). It has a black finish that has worn off somewhat (dead giveaway?), but it flicks nicely and feels very solid. If it's a fake, it at least had some decent fake engineering!

It ticks me off that someone would not only knock off a high dollar product, but actually forge their name on it. (Forge as in, fake, not forge as in, metallurgy).

The post I saw in here about fake Surefires did not seem to have any good pictures of the fake. So I just was hoping somebody could confirm for sure this is a fake, and not some other model of Surefire.

Thanks. This is my first post here. If this is not the best place to post this topic, I apologize. I'm still learning the website.

Sorry, your knife is definitely a counterfeit. A genuine Crank looks like this.

Note the uncoated, unlabeled blade; the concealment of the blade's cap lifter when open; and the absence of a glass breaker.

Don't be deceived by articles like this, either.

Unfortunately, the knife Max Schulte received as a gift and reviewed for an established Web site was a cheap fake! It's the same counterfeit knife you have.

The fraud should have been caught immediately and the review never should have been published. Even "industry experts" can be fooled by counterfeit trash.
