Hi all, I recently bought a 14" "Village Blacksmith" bullnose butcher knife on e-bay for about 35 bucks. It has a stamp on the wooden handle that reads "Village Blacksmith Hand Wrought". I cant post a pic unfortunately, but everything I read says that brand had a stamp in the blade itself. There isnt much info really. It is definitely an old high carbon butcher knife and well enough made. What wouldn't make sense for it to be fake is that a real Village Blacksmith 14" butcher knife would not be worth any more than whatever it may be and if so not enough to make a fake stamp. Did this company produce any knives with handle stamps? Would someone go to the trouble to make a fake knife with not much value?? Im going to use it regardless but im really wondering now..

like u said most counterfeiters wont waste time on a lower cost fake..if it really matters to you best thing to do is get some pics..and maybe contact fisher-barton manufacturers they are the ones that took over Washington Cutlery Co back in the 60s they may have some info on it..i believe they had a big fire there a couple years ago though in the WCCO department so i dont know what information they can actually give you, it is weird that it is stamped on the wood handle that is very adnormal.
