Hello guys, just peeking around the bay and found a seller listing a real close fake of a Strider, same seller is selling a XM24 from Hong Kong.... I hope it's not! :(

What do you think?

Item # 260891177788

He is selling a very good fake strider, that's why he is questioning the XM-24 as well. I was about to ask the same thing, I haven't seen any good fake XM's so I do not know the signs to look for.

I'm sure there are a few Hinderers in Hong Kong, and this could very well be real, but him selling the fake Strider as the real deal makes alarms go off.

It's scary how close they are getting to the real deal over there. I just wonder if this is a new fake? :(

To me the plunge grind looks a little fishy, maybe not? I'm versed in XM-18s, never owned a XM-24.

how do you know the strider is fake?
go to crimsontideshooters profile and check out his latest video he puts out some great points and you can go from there to decide for yourself (its the little things that make it a clone/knockoff and he does an awsome job pointing them out)

Flat screws and the backs of them match mine, Logo is correctly placed, grinds are spot on for a mid-tech 24. Thumbstuds look to be making contact with the frame. Lockbar stabilizer is where it should be. Bags & box are good...

If it's a fake, he (or someone) worked really hard at it. I think it's real as best I can tell from a couple of pix.

Bead blasted production blade with a dark green scale... Wasn't that the combo for The (USN) Gathering Hinderer lottery in... 2010?

ETA: scratch that...after reading the description, S35VN was used on this year's 24's, as well as some mid techs having no flipper, IIRC., so I'm incorrect on the thought about this being from the 2010 Gathering.

Looks like the real deal to me, including the Armorer tool, the bags, the box, everything looks right based on the pictures.

What makes you think the Strider is a fake? Looks to be real to me but I am not a Strider expert.

Regards,

Rich

It is not 100% confirmed that strider is a fake. It has none of the regular signs of the most recent influx of fakes.

I don't see how anyone can pull off a fake Hinderer...

On the other hand...

Flame me if you'd like, but i can see how pulling off a fake Strider is possible.

The Strider that seller has listed has none of the things that were pointed out in that video. No BOS logo, no flame anodized titanium lock side or clip, proper logo, proper pivot. I really have no idea why you're seeing it as fake.

Also, the seller has sold at least one other Hinderer in the last two months and gotten good feedback from a 91-feedback Buyer, so it's unlikely to be fake.

as a general rule anything from hong kong is going to be fake.

Yea, I think you should take that back because it's not true. Actually, most people here would think that anything from China would be fake but the biggest high end collector I know of is from China.

Everyone from all over the world can be collectors so lets not judge based on where a knife is being sold from.

Well, yes. But you gotta admit that you have to have some common sense when buying something online. Unfortunately China is a massive copyright violator and maker of fake watches, knives, etc. If you find a great deal from China or Hong Kong good for you, but I'd appply extra caution. Check feedbacks, prior sales, etc.

Lets wrap this up by saying (I believe we can all agree) it is best to buy your Hinderer from...
- Hinderer lottery at a knife show
- An event at the Ranch
- One of several Hinderer authorized dealers
- Credible dealer with a proven reputation whether at a show or locally
- Credible BF Member whether here or in the Exchange

Debating "origin" or critiquing an item offered on an internet site or whatever - is really a hit or miss proposition and just asking for problems.

Let's agree to just let this one die out.

I want to call out so many people in this post but I'm not going to because everyone knows it all and I'll just simply agree with RubiconSS and leave it at that.
