Fake?

I got a Benchmade Mediator as a gift and I do know it came from Benchmade (an employee got it for the person giving it to me). It does not have the “S90V with benchmade.com/pat” on the blade. That side of the blade is blank. Box it came in is legit. Thoughts?
 
There's no way to tell without pictures. Upload your pics to an image hosting site and post them here. I prefer Imgur.com, it's free, and all you have to do is copy the "BBcode/forum" link and it will embed your pictures in your post.

If you try to embed the whole album link the images won't show up in the thread here- you have to do them individually.

(other than the missing back side engraving it looks right to me? I've seen misplaced engravings before but not sure about missing ones. Not an expert on this model. All the black hardware with only the silver button is a nice look, regardless.)

Overall it looks good to me, and I don't know that there's any known fakes of that model yet. I'm not sure why it doesn't have the lasermark on the back of the blade, maybe they forgot to flip it over at 4:59PM on a Friday. You say it came from an employee at Benchmade, perhaps it could be a prototype (though those are usually marked as such) or factory second. I know they don't sell factory seconds, but perhaps they allow employees to take them for testing/evaluation.

Regardless of the markings, why would you think it's possibly a fake if you know it came from Benchmade?
 
Only reason is I’m very particular and I may have over thought it. If it was a factory second or something of that nature I wanted to know and didn’t want to offend this person by asking since they get them for a discount. I appreciate all the input you guys are giving.
 
It is weird. The marking could have been missed on the right side I suppose.
