Hi,
I am new to this but what are your thoughts for Falkniven Idun fixed blade with VG-10 ?

Do you think the stacked leather handle will come apart over time ? I intend to use it for camping chores (no high-impact chopping as in chopping firewood).

Thanks.

You can't really go wrong with Falkniven but if you are wanting one for food prep and general lighter duties ,take a look at the Spyderco Temperance.
If you want one though hurry as they are being discontinued!!!

food prep mostly

Northern Star is more like heavy knives - camping etc. I doubt you will have problem with leather handle - japanese know how to make knives and I guess treat leather the way it should stand field.

But for food I rather recommend you Russian RosAms knives - lightest fixed blades on the market. In particular Edelveis with birch bark stacket handle - light, warm and very durable.

Thanks, Vassili.
