My son purchased a Falkniven S1 for me. I will not get it till the end of the week. Does anyone have any S1 pics or reviews to help me with the wait? Thanks in advance.

Of all my Fallkniven's the S1 is one that I have not taken any good photos of.

Here are a couple boring ones to get things rolling.

The S1 is a fantastic knife. You will get years of service and enjoyment from it.

Try knifeforums.com for a Fallkniven fix. They have a dedicated Fallkniven forum there.

Excellent knife choice, you're lucky to have such a nice son. The only thing I wish this knife had was a larger handle, if your hands are like mine (XL) you'll find it small to say the least. Other then that the knife rocks..

If you haven't dealt with VG-10, you'll find it an excellent steel. The Fallkniven knives are mostly convex ground so you might research how to sharpen them.I suppose the S-1 might be called an allround camping knife. It would be suitable for taking apart a moose or elk if you can find one in Indiana !! BTW the first test I did with mine was to cut up an old rug, a serious test for the dirt that rugs collect over the years . The VG-10 held up very well !

I have a F1 and I have no trouble sharpening it with a fine grit slack belt sander and a paper wheel. The F1 is awesome but I would like something a bit bigger. Falkys are my knife of choice. I believe the S1 will not disappoint.

Haven't used it yet but have read great stuff about the laminated steel blade. Great outdoor knife. Convex grind cuts like a laser. Full tang makes a strong knife and is great for batoning. The standard S1 has an extended pommel for use as a field hammer.

So nice of your son to get one for you!:D

Nice. The micarta scales and mosiac pins look great. Did you purchase it customized or do the work yourself?

I've had a variety of higher end knives but the S1 is always the one I go back to when packing for the trails or the road. Its a truly great blade.

My son brought my S1 over today. I made a IWB sheath out of kydex for it. That slim handle is just the ticket for IWB carry. You don't even know its there. Talk about a perfect knife for my needs. I used it all day clearing brushy areas near my yard. It performed like a champ. It chops extremely well for a 5" knife. I even threw it at some old .75 plywood I have. At the end of the day it can still shave hair. That VG 10 is good stuff. My old reliable F1 has to take a back seat now.
