Great pics! I haven't been to the mountains for a while, and this makes me want to get out there. Thanks for sharing.

Best,

Wow! really stunning colors and wildlife!
What are those animals? are they family?

Thanks for sharing, Big K !

Mmmm, I absolutely love the Sierra's. Pics are always appreciated, and you gave us some nice ones!

Thanks guys!!! I was very lucky to get to see those bighorn sheep. I read there was herd in silver canyon near Bishop so I set out near dusk and sure enough I found em.

Pic's 1 and 4 are in the 20 lakes basin, Pic 2 is near green creek by Bridgeport. I love that place so much, I just thought I post some pic's.

I figured it was somewhere off the Owens Valley.

Be careful about approaching the bighorn sheep. The Sierra bighorns are endangered (probably only about 400 left) and are under severe distress (a lot of which was caused by the ban on hunting mountain lions, which are the only real predators for the bighorns, and since the ban went in place, their numbers are exploding while the bighorns are declining). There are a number of areas on the east side above Owens Valley that are strictly off-limits to hikers at certain times of the year. This is also true of some areas on the west side of the crest, mostly in the southern half of Kings Canyon.

I love the Sierra's this time of the year. It's not 5 below and dumping snow yet. Thanks for the pics!
