I usually try to come up with a contest for giveaways that involves some kind of puzzle or information sharing.

Not this time.

This giveaway is shamelessly designed to encourage support for Bladeforums and W&SS.

Here is the prize:

A Randall Model 8 (late model)

This knife was famously used as a survival knife by Air Force Pilot Gary Powers while he was flying U-2 aircraft.

Less famously, this has been carried by me on several hiking, camping, and fishing trips. Nevertheless, it is in near mint condition. (I polished it up for y'all a bit , but it has a few light scratches on the sheath and a little persistent discoloration on the blade.)

Man, I thought I was ready to give this knife away, but handling it again, I am starting to doubt my resolve. A 4" blade tip to hilt. Very comfortable stag handles. Easy to sharpen O-1..... Only for you guys here on W&SS.

Remember, if you don't want to enter some silly contest, and can wait 6 months or so, you can order a brand-new Randall Model 8 from A.G. Russel (for $490.00).

Contest Rules:

1. You must be a Gold, Platinum, or Knifemaker member of Bladeforums. If you aren't, upgrade your membership today!

2. You must have made 4 meaningful posts in W&SS in September (still a few days to make a thoughtful post or two). I'll be the final judge of what constitutes a thoughtful post. Bad spelling won't count against you, but drivel will!

3. You must be legally able to own this knife. WARNING: Half the top edge is sharpened. It is not a "false edge".

4. To enter--using your new GOLD membership--just enter a post on this thread to say, "I'm in!". Please just enter once.

5. The winner will be drawn Thursday, September 30, 2010 using a random number generator. No guessing, no weird clues, no wackiness. Just a random drawing.

Best luck to y'all. I hope the winner will post pictures of this sweetie in use!

Suuuweet, thanks for the generosity. WS&S is my favorite of the BF Forums. I'm in.

How could I not be in? Are you sure about this Rotte? Wow!

Forgot to say that this model is a "Bird and Trout". It would suit you. :D

This is one of the toughest giveaways for me to do (And I've done a few). I really like this knife, and it has seen some good field time. Don't even tempt me to recant. :(

Just trying to drum up some support for BF and W&SS.

Too late, I'm quoting this just so you can't change your mind :)

I'd like to say I'm in, but I already won a nice knife from you. I would just like to thank you for your generosity :)

generous, but don't regret it. Substitute if it still bothers you.

These guys are junkies, they salivate over $10 Moras. :)

I'm in! If I am lucky enough to win this, I will for sure go to the local gun show and have words with the lady that told me (as I was considering purchasing hers) that I would never own one! Thank you for the wonderful generosity.

I probably wouldn't use it,so I'll pass my chance on.
Beautiful knife & way cool gesture Rotte.
Good luck folks.

Hey... speak for yourself! I don't even own a Mora :p

Though...I do find myself looking favorably at a couple these days...I have never salivated over one, not even once :)
